Why I Want to be on the St. Louis County Council:
I believe passionately in government of the people, by the people and for the people.
As the former Mayor of Webster Groves, I understand what it takes to work with citizens and get things done. My time as the Executive Director of a Chamber of Commerce has made me keenly aware of the challenges small businesses tackle everyday- especially in this troubled economy.
As a result of my time as Citizens Advocate for St. Louis County Government, I realize the challenges that neighbors face when it comes to problem properties or storm sewer overflows. After fighting to change residents unfair assessments as the Taxpayers Advocate, I recognize how hard it is dealing with tax issues.
Each and every one of us feels the desire to leave behind a better, stronger community. We can build that community together. Through a strengthening of civil society in the areas of education, public safety, and public transportation, we can create the types of communities businesses want to invest in, and in which families will grow and thrive. Our eager and skilled workforce is ready to collaborate with management and focus - together - on what St. Louis does best.
By strengthening the cooperation between the County and the City, the municipalities of St. Louis County, street to street, and neighbor to neighbor we can overcome our challenges and attract the resources we need to grow.
Government should not be the exclusive realm of the few who hold power, but rather the empowered citizenry.
